Become an expert using Social Studio module in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
The certificate for the Social Specialist is one of two certifications marketers using Salesforce Marketing Cloud can obtain. The other one is the Email Specialist. Contrary to the Email Specialist, Social Specialist knowledge is not necessary to become a Marketing Cloud Consultant. According to Salesforce, the Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Social Specialist program is designed for those who “can demonstrate knowledge, skills, and experience using the components of Social Studio in the social landscape for post creation, management and analysis of conversations, and reporting.”
The exam can be taken onsite or online (Everyone I met who did it online recommend to take it onsite!), includes 60 multiple-choice questions and has a passing score of 67 percent.
Four documents / pages to prepare for the Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Social Specialist exam
Compared to most other Salesforce certifications (esp. for Sales / Service Cloud) there’s not much additional information (besides what Salesforce provides itself) to prepare for the exam. So let’s first start with the official stuff:
- Salesforce University offers some generic information about the certification and the exam.
- This also includes the Official Study Guide. This one is enough for those who have access to Social Studio and already know the system quite well.
- As every part of the Salesforce universe, als Social Studio has a very good documentation if you have very specific questions.
- This one is the most important (unofficial) document: The Study Notes for the Marketing Cloud Social Specialist by Ben Edwards (+ community input). I really recommend this document to prepare for the exam!
What is really important for Marketing Cloud Social Specialist exam is to understand the different configurations and options you have using Publish, Engage and Analyze. You should also understand how Macros work and what Topic Profiles are – these are essential parts using Social Studio.
